Fender Early Custom Shop 1960’s Gold Sparkle Nitro Finish Telecaster 1993 w Case Candy, COA and OHSC

This guitar features a solid alder body with a classy Birds eye maple neck and fingerboard to match the beautiful sparkle flake gold finish. Equipped with the original Fender Telecaster Single Coil pickups controlled by 1-volume, 1-tone knobs and a 3-way blade switch. The 25.5″ scale length neck has black dot inlays and 21 medium tall frets with a medium D neck profile.

The hardware is comprised of Fender vintage style tuning machines, a bone nut, a vintage Telecaster bridge, and knurled chrome flat top knobs with a 3-ply white/black pickguard. The Headstock has a mids 60s waterslide decal above the finish on the face and a Custom Shop Logo under the finish on the rear. This neck has the red Custom shop stamp on the butt, “Sparkle Tele” is handwritten on it and Herb Gastelum’s Stamp in black who was Fenders top quality neck craftsman at the time and international Known.

This guitar is in overall very good condition for its age, it does have some nicks on the body edges, some dings and light scratches mostly on the sides of body. (See pics)

Guitar is freshly setup and restrung with 9-42 strings. Includes original hard shell case, Custom Shop COA, Ashtray cover, Fender leather strap, polish cloth and case candy.

To avoid any potential confusion this guitar is not part of the more common limited edition 29 guitar run made by Guitar Center in 1993. The Guitar Center limited run of 29 gold sparkle Telecasters were almost identical to this guitar other than the commemorative neck plate, Guitar center stamp on the neck heel, and numbered 1 of 29 on the headstock and COA.

This guitar came from what we believe to be a former Fender employee, or perhaps very well connected collector as we have purchased several Fender custom shop prototypes from. This guitar very well may have been a prototype to the Guitar center run because of the similarities and this guitar was made only days prior to the Guitar Center run.
