Ibanez 2402 Double-Neck (Gibson EDS-1275 Copy) in red finish made in Japan in 1973-74 considered the “lawsuit era”. This very cool guitar features a bolt-on mahogany double-neck SG body, and two 3-piece maple necks with rosewood fingerboards. This guitar is an obvious copy of the Gibson ESD-1275 and shares the majority of key signature details. Equipped with the original Ibanez Humbucker pickups all with matching stamped identification numbers. The control layout consists of a 3-way neck selector switch, two 3-way pickup selector switches, 1 master volume and 1 master tone for each neck, and two mini-switches that were added after market. The bound 24.75” scale length necks have mother of pearl slit parralelogram inlays, 22 frets and a 60’s slim neck profile. The vintage style tuning machines are a copy of the Gibson Kluson Deluxe with aged tulip machine heads, and the Tune-O-Matic bridge with stop tailpiece hold excellent tuning stability and intonation which is essential when dealing with a double-neck and 18 strings. The shade of red on this particular guitar leans more towards a Ferrari or Dakota red than the traditional cherry red which is much more common.

This guitar is in very good condition for its age however there are minor dings, dents, surface scratches and ordinary play wear (see photos). There is a piece of the pick-guard that has began to bend upwards which is the piece in-between the necks pointing to the lower bout of the guitar body (see photo). There is a split along the bass side of the 6-string neck tuning machines that appears to be underneath the clear which means it was either fixed and shipped form the factory like that or it was repaired in the past. The tuning machine split is stable and not a concern, it is purely cosmetic but worth mentioning. This guitar has been freshly re-strung and setup in standard tuning and plays great. Comes with the original hardshell case however two of the 3 latches are broken. There is the correct case in excellent condition currently listed on Reverb from another shop for $300 if interested.
